WTFH – The African Education System!

The African education system

The African education system

Let’s compare the African education system and to America’s education system.

On average 75-100 students share the same classroom in Africa.  These schools produce graduates that go on to become great American doctors and lawyers. How is it that schools in Africa can produce successful people when less than 50% of the America’s students go to college?

In another blog topic posted on this site entitled: “The pros and cons of smaller classrooms”, I ask; does classroom size matter?

Some African students attend schools that have no roofs.  Some students barely have clothes, food, and/or adequate shelter.  Teachers in Africa are required to teach multiple grades in these large classrooms. These teachers use old out-dated books and other resources they received from America to educate their students. Teachers with documented teaching skills are lured away from Africa by Western countries.

While these conditions are bad,  students arrive to school everyday on time without transportation. Their attitudes are positive towards their teacher and each other. They are happy to receive an education. Is it the hope for a better life that help students work harder to receive a quality education?

Let’s talk about the African education system.
